The Ethical Conundrum of an Open Border

It’s really no secret that the current administration decided to ignore immigration law and open up our southern borders.  Doing so could not possibly be an accident – as Republican Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana once stated, “No one is that incompetent.  It has to be by design.”

Why would a President of the United States wish to violate immigration law and allow millions of non-citizens into our country?  Is it out of a sense of compassion for people who may be fleeing repressive regimes?  Elon Musk does not think so.  Musk insists the only reason why the Biden Administration has opened the borders is to grant these law-breakers citizenship, giving them the right to vote, which would then keep Democrats in power for generations.  To Musk, it is a power-grab strategy, nothing more.

If you think Musk is being overly cynical, consider the following: after years of strident denials by Democrats, many of whom claimed the charge of allowing illegal aliens into the country in droves was for purposes of gaining power was an outrageous and insulting accusation, some Democratic Party leaders have suddenly and openly admitted that this is precisely what they wish to do.  For instance, a mere 4 days ago a story broke about a Federal judge dismissing a lawsuit that challenged DC non-citizen voting.  In other words, a renegade judge has decided that it is perfectly fine if non-citizens who are here illegally vote in elections in our nation’s capital.

Furthermore, about a week ago, a top Democrat in a tight Senate race admitted he backs citizenship and voting rights for millions of illegal immigrants.  It’s true: Maryland Rep. David Trone says that illegal immigrants should have all of the same rights that US citizens now have.  To Mr. Trone, there really is no distinction between a citizen and a non-citizen.

Around the same time, an Obama-appointed judge in Illinois ruled that illegal aliens have the same 2nd amendment gun rights as any other American citizen.  On what grounds does the judge believe that non-citizens who are here illegally have any constitutional rights at all?  Simply because he said so.

A recent Biden executive order was found to attempt to register illegal aliens to vote.  This was made public this month by Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson, who demanded answers from the Biden Administration.  No answers were forthcoming.

The invasion of illegal aliens has gotten so bad that the mayors of some of our big cities, such as New York City and Chicago, have been begging, literally pleading with the Biden Administration to intervene and help them out of this mess — a mess they themselves created by establishing their communities as a “Sanctuary City.”  In Denver, it has gotten so out of control that citizens of Denver are now being asked to open their homes to the throngs of illegal aliens that have invaded that city.  There simply is no more shelter space for these people, and so the Mayor of Denver is pleading with the citizens of Denver to simply open the doors to their homes and allow total strangers to live with them.

And resources have been reduced to rubble.  The influx of illegal alien children now cost the public school system an estimated $2 billion per year.

But that doesn’t matter to the governor of Arizona, where Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed a proposed law called the “Alien Invasion Act” which would have allowed police to arrest illegal border crossers.  She justified her actions by claiming that “Anti-immigrant legislation to score cheap political points has no place in our state.”  She left out the part about it being illegal to cross our borders illegally. . .  Nor does it matter in California which passed a bill this month that would make illegal aliens eligible for first time homebuyer loans.

Note also that Democrat leaders such as Illinois Senator Dick Durbin have made it clear that they have no interest whatsoever in detaining illegal aliens who commit violent crimes.  Detain American citizens who do so – yes!  But not illegal aliens; they can commit violent crimes at will but should not be detained according the senior leaders of the Democratic Party.

And at the federal level, it’s become surreal. .  The Biden White House now refers to illegal aliens as “Newcomers” in an attempt to alter the meaning of illegality by controlling language and expression, while FBI Director Christopher Wray recently testified before Congress that there are thousands of drones hovering all across our southern border being operated by people in Mexico (not necessarily Mexican citizens), presumably to monitor and locate vulnerabilities in the security of our border, allowing untold thousands of criminals to enter our country without detection.

It is instructive to ask ourselves what have been some of the unintended consequences of opening up our southern border and allowing millions of illegal aliens into the country – unvetted.  Here are some examples to consider:

  • A disabled 15-year-old girl was brutally raped by a Haitian migrant who was supposedly vetted, but wasn’t.  This took place in a Massachusetts emergency shelter about a week ago.
  • A 12-year-old boy is now dead due to a head-on car crash with an illegal alien woman who was driving on the wrong side of the freeway.  This took place in Missouri about 2 weeks ago.  The boy’s parent were severely injured as well.
  • A young, 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia named Laken Riley was out for a jog recently when an illegal alien named Jose Antonio accosted her and beat her so violently, he is said to have disfigured her skull.  Why did Mr. Antonio kill this innocent, promising young American?  Because he wanted to.
  • A two-year-old boy named Jeremy Poou-Caceres was murdered last month in Maryland by 25-year-old Nilson Trejo-Granados, an illegal alien from El Salvador.
  • A girl under the age of 14 was sexually assaulted last month by a 34-year-old Guatemalan illegal alien in Boston.  He was ordered to register as a sex offender, but the court ignored Boston’s immigration detainer and actually released him back into the community, and as a result, an innocent child was sexually assaulted by this monster.

As I have been tracking such crimes for more than 3 years now, I could continue with dozens – actually, hundreds if not thousands – of similar accounts.

So the question remains: Is it ethical to open up our borders and allow millions upon millions of people to enter our borders illegally, take over our schools, access our limited resources (robbing our own citizens of such access), cause cities to have to shut down services, cause hospitals to go bankrupt, cause sexual assaults and murders to take place, and then give these people the right to vote?

What are your thoughts?

And that, my friends, is the latest elephant in the room.
