The Pitfalls of Protest

A 37-year-old woman, Renee Good, was shot and killed in Minneapolis last week. She was part of a mob of protesters who were harassing and hampering the law enforcement work being done by Federal Agents from ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement.) ICE has been rounding up illegal aliens that were let into our country by Joe Biden’s open border policy. As a result of this policy, many United States citizens were murdered, raped, assaulted, kidnapped, or, if children, were sexually molested. In addition to all of that, Minneapolis became a hotbed of fraud with many foreigners (and citizens) engaging in massive amounts of financial pilfering of the funding from various government programs designed to help people with real needs. Democratic Governor Tim Waltz was asleep at the wheel or possibly even complicit in this. Billions of dollars were squandered with some of it being funneled to Middle Eastern terrorist organizations. You can’t make this stuff up.

Thus, when ICE descended upon the city of Minneapolis, the American Left do what they’ve always done: attempt to harass, dox, and harm ICE agents. The American Left can be counted on to strive to protect criminals who are here illegally. Like attracts like.

Ms. Good had been married at least twice before to different men, having two children from the first, and another child from the second. At the time of her death she was said to be married to a woman. Evidently she had been a poet and was certainly an LGBTQ activist. Her family claims she was not an anti-ICE activist, yet ICE agents claim otherwise. In fact, video shows she was an active trouble-maker, taunting ICE agents and her wife was there, egging her on and trying to capture Ms. Good’s antics on video to upload to Tik-Talk. Although not confirmed as of this writing, it appears she drove her car towards an ICE officer after defying orders to stop, and her car did make contact with him, causing him to fire his weapon at her in self-defense, killing her. The activists deny this, claiming she was just an innocent mother of three trying to drive away to get out of the way of the ICE Agents and was murdered in cold blood. That claim is pure fiction. Perhaps it is noteworthy that her wife blames herself for bringing Ms. Good to this area of Minneapolis where ICE was doing their work. (I should point out that soon after the shooting of Ms. Good, two people, a man and a woman in Portland, were involved in a similar altercation involving an ICE Agent. The FAKE NEWS media claimed the victims were an innocent married couple. Actually, they weren’t married at all; one was a Tren de Aragua gang member while the other was part of a prostitution ring run by Tren de Aragua. The “couple” also tried to weaponize their vehicle and run over an ICE Agent there. It didn’t turn out well for the two love birds. They both were shot. Both survived. Both will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.)

But whether Ms. Good really did drive towards the ICE agent with the intent to kill him, what is clear is that she had parked in such a way as to block the ICE agents from doing their job, pinning their vehicles in, and according to the ICE agents on the scene, Ms. Good had been leading the charge in such antics for much of the day. Those agents insist Ms. Good had been a vocal and radical protester and instigator. In fact, she was a member of a far-Left radical group called Ice-Watch, a group that tries to organize various types of harassment against Ice Agents under the guise of protest in order to prevent these Federal Agents from doing their job.

What this sad story reveals is that the protestors like Good use tactics that are both foolish and potentially deadly. When agents are attempting to remove illegal aliens from our community, it is foolhardy to get in their way and try to cause trouble. Yet the radicalized Left, of which Ms. Good was a part, have increased their violent behavior against ICE Agents in recent months. The stats from 2025 tell a troubling story: 1,300% increase in physical assaults against ICE Agents; 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks against ICE Agents; death threats against ICE Agents have increased roughly 8,000%.

David Marcus astutely pointed out in a recent opinion piece that there are two methods that could be used in the world of Left-wing protesting. One of them is called “Indirect Action.” That approach involves holding a sign, marching along a sanctioned route, or chanting slogans, most of which are inane if one ponders them even briefly. But they’re harmless. People are allowed to spend their time that way if they so choose, even though such antics rarely ever bring desired results.

The other method of protesting is called “Direct Action.” David Marcus describes that one as “anything that might get you arrested.” I think what he has in mind is when a protestor crosses a boundary law enforcement set up that was prohibited from being crossed, or throwing bricks, bottles, rocks or other projectiles at officers, or spitting on agents, or lighting fireworks that are aimed at agents, or slashing the tires of agents’ vehicles, or physically assaulting agents – all antics that Left-wing activists engage in with regularity.

Renee Good was shot at approximately 1:30 PM; sources claim she had spent the better part of that day meddling with, and harassing, Federal Agents with impunity. She was consistently crossing that line between “Indirect Action” and “Direct Action.” Predictably, her fellow protesters have gone crazy on social media claiming all sorts of nonsense or non-provable allegations: The agent who shot her was smiling. The agents would not allow her to receive medical attention once she was shot. Donald Trump planned to have her assassinated. Make America Great Again is code language for murdering citizens. Stuff like that.

Yet such venting fails to take into account that the entire purpose of Ms. Good and those like her was to create confrontation with Federal Agents who were carrying out their duties. Ms. Good wanted trouble and she got trouble. We don’t know if she intended to hit the ICE Agent with her car, or run him over completely, or if it was just her nerves that accounted for her erratic reaction. However, when an armed officer of the law believes his life is in imminent danger as a car is barreling toward him, he is very likely going to draw his weapon and shoot to kill. And one must remember that radicalized protesters, BLM activists, and Antifa thugs have frequently used their vehicles to try to mow down law enforcement personnel in recent years. It’s not uncommon. It’s expected.

As David Marcus framed it: “In fact, it is these agitators and the local police departments in places like Minneapolis and Portland who won’t arrest them, that created the very circumstances that lead to deadly confrontation. And they do it on purpose. . . I’ll be blunt, if the feckless manchild mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, actually allowed his police to arrest people for criminal protesting, this tragedy never would have happened.”

But why is ICE even going into places like Minneapolis in the first place? I will answer: because Left-wing Governors and Mayors simply choose to allow violent criminals to roam their streets at will. Had their own law enforcement officers cooperated with Federal Agents and handed over the criminals to such agents, the Federal Agents would not have to conduct their sting operations in the first place and protestors wouldn’t even cause trouble to begin with.

And that, my friends, is the latest elephant in the room.
