I love great art. Great art captures the imagination, brings to mind one’s history, and provides a sense of possibilities. Art can present themes that are a reminder of tragedy, of error, of the regrettable. Art can also reflect triumph, virtue, and a sense of the sacred. Great art that adorns one’s home is a step in making one’s abode into a sanctuary of storytelling, as each piece of art has something unique to say.
I am blessed to be familiar with many wonderful artists, and one I wish to highlight at this time is an amazingly gifted young artist from the state of Utah. Her name is Kylie Malchus. She is one of the most promising young artists I have come across, but I also want to point out that she is intellectually gifted and possessed of an inordinate abundance of wisdom and decency. She often spends her time painting religious themes but is also a big fan of anime. Yet the vastness of the various themes she pursues is quite impressive, so much so that I find myself spellbound as I view her latest works.
A year or two ago I purchased an original painting she had just completed. This daring oil painting featured Jesus Christ looking heavenward while in Jerusalem, and snowfall was coming down. (It does snow in Jerusalem on occasion.) It hangs proudly in my bedroom and is an amazing and inspiring work of art. You can see it in the photo accompanying this article. This woman has talent and vision! I’ve also purchased many prints of another of her fabulous art pieces and have given them out as gifts.
I was even more moved by a painting she did involving Eve and the serpent in the Garden of Eden. I don’t own the original, but I wish I did; it’s hauntingly captivating.
I would urge my readers to check out her work at this link.
Kylie Malchus is an up-and-coming art phenomenon! She is talented and principled. Buy her art! I did and I’m better off for it.
