The quote above from the administrator at the University of Oregon is telling. It helps explain why Donald Trump won the 2024 election.

This unhinged fellow, a grown man, seemingly a mature adult, betrays an emotionally unbalanced child inside that adult man. He has the maturity of a spoiled brat of about age 7. He is single-mindedly obsessed, not with the victory of Kamala Harris, but with the defeat of Donald Trump, to the point that his obsession trumps (no pun intended) his deepest and closest relationships. He threatens to terminate relationships with his closest friends, with his own mother and father, with his own brothers or sisters, and even with his own sons or daughters – everyone – his pastor, his barber, his doctor, his lawyer, his work associates, his boss, his babysitter. He will readily divorce his own wife over this one, seemingly paramount, issue – a vote in favor of Donald Trump. Everything – and I mean everything – in his life is subordinate to that.

But it doesn’t stop there for this man. He doesn’t merely wish to terminate his relationship with anyone and everyone in his life who might have cast their vote for Donald Trump; he wishes them harm. In fact, he wants them dead.

His rant was so over the top that his employer, the University of Oregon, put him on paid leave. I predict they will terminate him before December.

Why do I lead this article with Serrano’s unhinged rant? Because his apoplectic lunacy is emblematic of why Donald Trump won this election, and won it by a huge margin.

Very simply, the majority of voters saw Trump Derangement Syndrome for what it is – a hypnotically strange phenomenon of mass psychosis – and decided that Trump’s opponents were not credible.

Trump, had been impeached twice, survived two assassination attempts on his life, was (and is) the victim of ongoing “lawfare” (meaning revenge-seeking prosecutors such as Alvin Bragg, Jack Smith, Fani Willis, and Letitia James are out to “get him” just because they loathe him), was the victim of the smear known as the Russia-Collusion hoax, was called a Nazi, a fascist, the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler himself, and worse than even Satan. This unhinged insanity caused everyday people to realize that the man who was once host of the popular reality TV show The Apprentice, couldn’t possibly be as bad as he was characterized. These are the people who decided to rebuke and refute Trump’s enemies. Kamala didn’t have a chance.

Trump also won because Kamala Harris was such a colossal failure as a candidate in her own right. She was asked what she might do differently than what Joe Biden did, and she claimed she couldn’t really think of anything. And yet, she kept saying she was going to “move us forward.” Why move us forward if she didn’t see a need to change anything she did with Biden? That disconnect never got resolved, even after she was asked again and again how she was distinct from Joe Biden. She bombed on that question each time it was asked. The best she could come up with was saying she’s not Joe Biden but even more importantly, she’s not Donald Trump. Trump lived rent-free in her head, as she castigated him relentlessly while failing to talk about actual policy she might favor, other than unfettered access to abortion at any time. Abortion and Trump: that’s all she had. And she never once held a general press conference. And she botched the softest of softball questions. And she sounded abnormal. And she cackled. And when being interviewed by a digital influencer who was Muslim, she talked about the virtues of, . . . bacon – and this to a guy whose religion forbids him to eat bacon, yet she wouldn’t let the topic go, resulting in an interview that was so bad, the Muslim interviewer never aired the interview. Likewise, CBS News resolutely refused to release their unedited tapes of their interview with Ms. Harris, after it became public that they replaced Kamala Harris’ rambling, barely coherent answer to a question she had been asked with a “re-take” answer filmed later that was slightly more succinct, to try to help her not look as bad as she clearly was. Kamala Harris was never a good candidate.

Back to Trump Derangement Syndrome. Regular citizens became aware of the many outrageous examples of TDS in the context of how the Left reacted to the mere presence of a hat that read “Make America Great Again.” Who could object to a desire to make America great? Only those who wish to see its demise – the Left. But more pointedly, how did the Left react when they saw such hats? The examples are not flattering to the Left. Try these 10 examples on for size:

• During Trump’s first term in office, a female student at University of California, Riverside, Edith Macias, was so enraged when she spotted another student, Matthew Vitale, wearing a MAGA hat on campus, she boldly marched over to Mr. Vitale and blatantly tore the hat off his head and kept it. She refused to give it back to him. She engaged in theft and assault. And she was quite brazen about it. In her mind, Matthew Vitale was doing something criminal and immoral by wearing a hat that was somehow tied to President Donald Trump.
• Hunter Richard, age 16, From San Antonio, Texas was also wearing a MAGA hat while eating a meal at a hamburger joint. A 30-year-old man named Kino Jimenez, a Trump-Hater, could not countenance anyone daring to wear such a hat. So he walked over to Hunter Richard, ripped the hat off his head (and ripped out some of his hair in the process), then threw a soda on Hunter, uttered an expletive, and walked away.
• In July 2018, Ashton Hess, age 17 was with his family vacationing in Seattle. They were standing outside of a Starbucks minding their own business. Unfortunately for Ashton, he was wearing a MAGA hat. This caused a man named Ethan Jackson, who claims he is non-binary (i.e., neither male nor female) and sports bright green hair past his shoulders, walked up to Ashton, told him to “Get the f*ck out of this city,” and punched him in the head. Ashton’s MAGA hat was knocked to the ground, whereupon it ended up in the hands of Mr. Jackson, who spat on it and then threw it in the street.
• A chef and restaurant owner of a Northern California establishment called Wursthall, Mr. J. Kenji López-Alt, made a rather non-inclusive statement on Twitter: “It hasn’t happened yet, but if you come to my restaurant wearing a MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same as if you come in wearing a swastika, white hood, or any other symbol of intolerance and hate.” The irony was evidently lost on the bigot. Here he was spouting intolerance and hate while claiming he does not tolerate intolerance and hate.
• In mid-February 2019, a woman and her 14-year-old son walked into a Vans shoe store located in Oak Park, Kansas. The son was wearing a MAGA hat. A male employee at the Vans store approached the 14-year-old and yelled at him, ordering him to remove the MAGA hat and shouting “F*ck you!” to the young teenager, who said nothing.
• On February 22, 2019 Bryton Turner, age 23, walked into Casa Vallarta Mexican restaurant in Cape Cod, Massachusetts to have dinner. He was wearing a MAGA hat. That hat triggered Rosaine Santos, a 41-year-old illegal alien from Brazil who was also dining in the restaurant. Upon spotting the red hat, Ms. Santos walked over to Mr. Turner and began yelling at him. Then she walked behind him and struck in in the back of the head, knocking the hat off his head. She then confiscated the hat, taking possession of it.
• On April 1, 2019, a 74-year-old man named Victor walked into a Starbucks in Palo Alto, California. He was wearing a MAGA hat. This caused another customer at the Starbucks, a woman named Rebecca Mankey, to approach Victor and verbally assault him, calling him a racist, a hater of brown people, and a Nazi (even though Victor is Jewish). Ms. Mankey, who is of the party that preaches tolerance, bragged about her harassment of Victor on her Facebook page, claiming she chased him out of the Starbucks, tried to get other customers to turn on him, and then yelled “Get the f*ck out of my town!” She went on, claiming she was “going to publicly shame him in town and try to get him fired and kicked out of every club he is in.” She ended up getting herself fired from her own job instead.
• Fast forward to February 13, 2020, the day of the New Hampshire Primary. Mr. Patrick Bradley, age 34, of Windham, walked up to a polling station located at Windham High School that afternoon. While there, he saw a 15-year-old boy who was working as a volunteer at the Trump tent and noticed the boy was wearing a MAGA hat. To Patrick Bradley, that was considered unacceptable, so he marched over to the boy and slapped him across the face, used the F-word at him, and then assaulted two other adults there who tried to intercede, breaking the jaw of one of the two adults. Bradley got a little animated, throwing Trump campaign signs and tried to knock over the entire campaign tent.
• In August 2020, two women, Olivia Winslow, age 21, and her friend Camryn Amy, also 21, caused all sorts of mayhem in Delaware, ripping up Trump campaign signs, and stealing a MAGA hat from a 7-year-old boy, assaulting him in the process and punching a man in the face who had come to his rescue.
• On September 28, 2020, a 77-year-old veteran was at the Red Bluff post office in California. He was wearing a MAGA hat. A couple came up to him, a male and a female. The woman said to him, “We don’t like people like you.” He replied to her, “Well, that breaks my heart.” With that, the man, 26-year-old Daniel Gomez-Martinez, punched the old man in the head, put him in a headlock, and proceeded to continue the assault, punching the old man in the head repeatedly, causing blood to pour out of the old man’s head. The elderly veteran, who was not named, ended up in the hospital.

Bottom line: Trump won because the Leftist radicals overplayed their hand. They showed themselves to be possessed of unseemly, irrational behavior which caused the majority of Americans to see them for what they were: unhinged members of the lunatic fringe. If they were voting for Kamala Harris, sane Americans realized that they could not follow suit. Thus, Trump won. Decisively.

And that, my friends, is the latest elephant in the room.
